Assessment

Assessment is the ongoing process of:

  • Establishing clear, measurable, expected outcomes of student learning
  • Ensuring that students have sufficient opportunities to achieve those outcomes
  • Systematically gathering, analyzing, and interpreting evidence to determine how well student learning matches expectations
  • Using the resulting information to understand and improve student learning
    (Suskie, 2009)

Reporting Deadlines:

Academic Programs

  • September 1: Data entry for assessment reports (plans and results) completed by all academic programs and administrative units to ComplianceAssist! and submission of self-completed rubrics for the plans and results.  For example, on September 1, 2018 assessment results for 2017-18 and assessment plans for 2018-19 are due.
  • September 1-15: Independent reviews conducted and rubrics completed by the respective Deans Assessment Committees (DACs) and returned to the respective assessment coordinator(s).
  • September 30: Final edits to plans and results as well as final rubrics uploaded to ComplianceAssist! 

Administrative Units

  • June 30: Data entry for assessment reports (plans and results) completed by all administrative units to Compliance Assist and submission of self-completed rubrics for the plans and results.  For example, on June 30, 2018 assessment results for 2017-18 and assessment plans for 2018-19 are due. 
  • July 1-15: Independent reviews conducted and rubrics completed by the respective Administrative Assessment Committees (AACs) and returned to the respective assessment coordinator(s).
  • July 30: Final edits to plans and results as well as final rubrics uploaded to Compliance Assist.
